As assistant principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and featured cello soloist, music technical advisor and
teacher on the soundtrack of the DreamWorks film “The Soloist,” BEN HONG is one of the most sought after cellist
in the country. Along with premiering Tan Dun's "Crouching Tiger Concerto” with the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl,
he has collaborated with such artists as Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, Lynn Harrell, Lang Lang, Bobby McFerrin,
Christopher O'Riley, Sir Simon Rattle, Shanghai String Quartet, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Ben will present a diverse
program of “Classical and Jazz” with the David Benoit Trio and members of our own Asia America Symphony Orchestra.

A native of Japan, composer, Er-hu player and premier jazz violinist, MEG OKURA has appeared in over fifty
albums, movie soundtracks, television, and music videos. Juilliard trained, and now a resident of New York,
Ms. Okura has performed with musical icons such as David Bowie, Mary J. Blige, Michael Brecker, Philip
Glass, Ziggy Marley, Lee Konitz, Lenny Kravitz, Kanye West and others. Leading the virtuosi group, the Pan
Asian Chamber Jazz Ensemble, she is inventing and defining “world chamber jazz” today. Performing
together for the first time with the David Benoit Trio, this concert will invigorate your musical senses and is
one not to be missed.

In its 9th successful season, the ASIA AMERICA YOUTH ORCHESTRA (AAYO) will feature the debut and world
premiere performance of David Benoit’s new composition - composed specifically for AAYO - “Native Californian”,
which spotlights many members of the orchestra in a variety of musical styles. Also featured in this concert are AAYO
violin virtuosos ELEANOR DUNBAR and JESSIE CHEN featured soloists performing Bach’s Double Violin
Concerto.
